Michael Kendrick & the Blue Eyed Sons are made up of Matt Zufall, Joe Ellison, John Dalton and Michael Kendrick. All born and raised in St. Louis to families generally uninterested in music, we found each other to lean on. And when Michael confronted the other three about recording some songs he had written for a demo, the Blue Eyed Sons were born. Influenced heavily by the likes of Bob Dylan, Josh Ritter and Ryan Adams, we take a great deal of pride in our songs. We feel the mark of any good band or artist begins and ends with the songs, and we’ve tried to put together some good ones over the past few years that are finally coming to life.
Star and Micey | It was a dark night in Memphis, like many before it. Joshua Andrew Cosby walked home from rehearsal with his guitar, case-less, slung over his back. A local homeless man flagged him down, not for money but for a story. He explained to Cosby how he had written a song about his ex-wife Micey. There, on that dimly lit street, occurred an exchange, two men playing each other songs of heartbreak and the ultimate sacrifice. Upon parting ways, this man revealed his name to be Star. That name became the fixture for one of Memphis’ most inventive bands, Star and Micey. Its core members are listed as two brothers without the same last name, Geoff Smith and Joshua Cosby. It was merely coincidence that Cosby later met Nick Redmond at a local pub and began a relationship based on music and above all, brotherhood.
Kill a Drifter | Down home two-piece folk outfit tinged with veins of sorrow and angst. They make no apologies for who they are or what they do. Without beating around the bush, this band nails it with their self-descripted "Murdergrass." |
