Juanita Place | Just one block over from Rock Avenue, at the corner of Jazz Lane, lies the infamous R&B Jook Joint. The street sign above reads “Juanita Place,” which lends its name to a spirited new R&B fusion band quickly making a name for itself on the River City’s eclectic music scene. At the heart of this St. Louis band are three core components: lead guitarist Jason Warren, drummer Shontez Jones, and lead vocalist and keyboard player BJ Rice. With a nod to its jazz and rock predecessors, the group pays homage to the greats, with soulful covers of favorite classics; but also pens its own, less traditional, recipe of music. So, what is life like on Juanita Place? Thick, humid harmonies, electrifying improvisations, contagious energy and a tone that reflects an uncanny empathy with your own emotions. Refusing to be overlooked, this eclectic convergence is bringing new life to a once forgotten place. Southshores | We just finished our EP with producer Geoff Rockwell (Forever the Sickest Sids, Artist Vs Poet, School Boy Humor). The Kick Down | St. Louis-based musicians providing a diverse musical arrangement of songs. Perform originals as well as covers ranging from Stevie Wonder to Traffic to Lenny Kravitz to Radiohead to Sublime to Red Hot Chili Peppers to Desmond Decker. The Kick Down supports events ranging from restaurants, wineries, and private parties to weddings, bars, and outdoor amphitheater events. The Kick Down’s songlist has over 50 covers and 10 originals that can entertain the broadest audiences and provide dancing for hours. Gypsy Revival is a vintage rock band with modern relevance whose influences cover many decades and genres. Such a wide variety of influences creates a new sound like none other. While most bands pick a band or group of bands that they want to sound like, Gypsy Revival has set out to invent a new sound that is their own.
